Muftija Fazlović in Srebrenica: Society must turn much more strongly towards children and youth

(Patria) - Muftija of Tuzla Vahid-ef. Fazlović visited Srebrenica yesterday and on that occasion met with members of the Suljić family, whose daughter was harassed and insulted on religious grounds by a group of students two days ago while returning home from school.

Muftija Fazlović and the chief imam of the Islamic Community of Srebrenica, Damir-ef. Peštalić, carefully listened to the student's parents and expressed support for the entire family in their current situation, as well as for efforts to fully clarify this case.

After this meeting and discussions with members of the Parents' Council about their advocacy for the rights of all students attending the First Elementary School in Srebrenica, Muftija Vahid-ef. Fazlović stated that the entire society must turn much more strongly towards children and youth, helping them grow and be raised in accordance with the best human virtues. Srebrenica is an environment where relations among people are particularly sensitive, and it is detrimental for children to be directed and supported in insulting others and those who are different, said the Muftija, and called on local authorities and all relevant institutions to urgently ensure equality for Bosniaks in the educational system in Srebrenica.

Muftija Fazlović thanked Chief Imam Damir-ef. Peštalić for his contribution so far, both in human and professional terms, in building good relations among all residents of Srebrenica, considering that his example can be worthy of attention in the Srebrenica environment and beyond.
