Mubarek Night Laylat al-Bara'at – Night of Forgiveness and Destiny

(Patria) - The eighth month according to the Hijri calendar, the month of Sha'ban, is also known in Islamic tradition by the name - el-šehrul-mu'azam - the magnificent month.

The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, spent this month in humble worship and fasting. It is the month in which, according to the words of the Messenger of God Muhammad, peace be upon him, deeds are raised to the Lord of all worlds. The month of Sha'ban is the last and a great herald of the imminent arrival of the blessed month of Ramadan.

„The fifteenth night of the month of Sha'ban is celebrated in Islamic tradition as Laylat al-Bara'at, known to us as the Night of Forgiveness and Destiny. This night holds a special place in the Islamic calendar as one of the four chosen nights“, announced the Directorate for Religious Affairs of the Riyaset of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It is reminded that Mu'adh ibn Jabal narrated that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: „On the fifteenth night of Sha'ban, Allah looks upon all His creation and forgives all, except the mushrik – idolater, and the mushahin – one whose heart is filled with hatred and enmity towards another Muslim.“

„According to the Takvim of the Riyaset of the Islamic Community, Laylat al-Bara'at falls on Thursday, February 13, 2025. It is recommended to spend at least a part of this night in worship and humbly recite the Holy Quran and make supplications for oneself, one's family, nation, homeland, and the Ummah“, the statement added.
