Can Minister Crnadak recall Ambassador Čolaković?

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Crnadak has summoned BiH Ambassador to The Hague Mirsada Čolaković for consultations in Sarajevo, Al Jazeera reported.

Ambassador Čolaković earlier refused Crnadak's instruction to deliver a letter to the International Court of Justice in The Hague, in which Crnadak objected to the revision of the BiH judgment against Serbia before the court in The Hague, which was submitted on Thursday by agent Sakib Softić.

Crnadak said that Ambassador Čolaković did not respect the institutions of BiH, emphasizing that ambassadors must follow the instructions of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

A source from the Patria news agency explains that Minister Crnadak does not have the legal authority to recall Ambassador Čolaković. Only the Presidency of BiH has that right.

- Minister Crnadak can submit a proposal to the Presidency of BiH and request sanctions for the ambassador, but he cannot impose sanctions himself – this source confirmed.

- For the Presidency of BiH to recall an ambassador, to relieve them of their duties, in this case Ambassador Čolaković, a consensus of all three members of the Presidency is required, or possibly that two members of the BiH Presidency outvote the third member – this source adds, Patria reports.
