Mostar neighbourhood of Raštani: Tutin's fighters massacred 31 Bosniaks, including children

In the early morning of 24 August 1993, HVO units raided the Mostar neighbourhood of Raštani, where they brutally killed 24 Bosniak civilians and seven unarmed members of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. After several hours of artillery fire on the neighbourhood, the raid was carried out, reports the Patria news agency. 

Members of the Punishment Battalion of Mladen Naletilić Tuta, convicted of war crimes before the Hague Tribunal, entered houses and systematically killed the Bosniaks they found inside.

The first to be killed was Uzeir Beglerović, followed by his wife Ćera, and three daughters, twelve-year-old Šaćira, twenty-year-old Edina, and twenty-five-year-old Fadila, who was pregnant.

After that, they continued killing other residents, including the families: Žuškić, Ćišić, Dedić, Dumpor... Among the civilians, several children were also killed. After the murders, the houses were set on fire, and a larger group of Bosniaks was taken to the Heliodrom camp.

Although 23 years have passed, no one has been held accountable for the massacre in Raštani, even though the perpetrators are known.
