Mostar Mufti's Office: Plenković's support for the Croatian National Theatre in Mostar is inappropriate for European values

(Patria) - On the occasion of the publicly stated views of Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković at the session of the Government Council for Croats outside the Republic of Croatia regarding support for the construction of the Croatian National Theatre building in
Mostar, the Mostar Mufti's Office has reacted sharply.

Addressing Plenković as the prime minister of a neighboring country, the reaction reminded him that they appreciate his concern for the Croatian people and their culture, but also that the Croatian National Theatre building in Mostar has been erected for years with generous funds from the taxpayers of the Republic of Croatia on Muslim sacred ground, Lakišića harem.

„This is an undeniable fact confirmed by numerous presented documents in a book that was sent to you not so long ago. You are building a huge structure illegally and usurpingly, ignoring evidence and disregarding all prohibitions from the OHR, competent inspection authorities, former mayors, criminal charges, sealing of the building...“, the Mufti's Office reminds.

In addition to all of the above, the reaction further states, both Plenković and officials of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, during all visits to Mostar and Bosnia and Herzegovina, proudly boast about this illegal project, which is extremely inappropriate and unsuitable for European values.

It is obviously important to occupy the never fully exhumed Lakišića harem in the center of Mostar as soon as possible, a vakuf – endowment of the famous Ahmed-aga Lakišić, a respected citizen of Mostar.

With such a violent, illegal undertaking, they unfortunately note, a great stone of contention is being built in a wounded Mostar, which is both Bosniak and Serb, not just Croatian.

„Through the exclusive insatiable policy that your protégés have been pursuing in Herzegovina for decades, European values are not being shown towards other constituent peoples, but their rights are being permanently denied. Although justice is sometimes slow, it is certainly attainable“, it was emphasized in the reaction.

In contrast to this concept, it was highlighted, the Intercultural Center “Mevlana”, which the Islamic Community will soon build, will carefully preserve not only the remaining part of the endowment of the noble Ahmed-aga Lakišić, but also the multi-ethnic Mostar as an open city for all well-intentioned people.

„Therefore, bearing in mind its significance, we invite you and your associates, both in Croatia and in our beautiful homeland, to support the Intercultural Center 'Mevlana' and to be our partners. We look forward to cultural exchange and cultural elevation“, the reaction of the Mostar Mufti's Office concludes.
