Mostarski krug files criminal complaint against Mostar Mayor Mario Kordić and inspector Marin Musa

(Patria) - Due to suspicion of abuse of position and authority in the case of the construction of the Croatian National Theatre (HNK) in Mostar, representatives of the non-governmental organization Mostarski krug submitted to the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton a criminal complaint against Mostar Mayor Mario Kordić and construction inspector Marin Musa, on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of Abuse of Position or Authority from Article 383, Paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of BiH, which carries a penalty of at least three years in prison.

Numerous pieces of evidence were attached to the criminal complaint, including correspondence from international and domestic institutions confirming that the construction of the HNK building in Mostar has not had a legally valid permit since 1996.

Among the evidence, many documents were attached, including: correspondence from the Office of the High Representative (OHR) from 1997, the decision of urban planning and construction inspector Nenad Ibrulj from 2001 to halt construction, and official notes and reports from other inspectors who have repeatedly stated that construction is being carried out without valid permits.

Witnesses listed in the complaint include: Amira Trbonja, Jesenka Mahinić, Nenad Ibrulj, Nebojša Šarić, Salem Marić, Ivan Vukoja, Almir Mujkanović, Mijo Brajković, Borislav Puljić, and Safet Oručević.

The complaint demands that the Prosecutor's Office immediately request documentation and protocols from the City of Mostar regarding the infamous construction permit for HNK from 1996, which Mostarski krug calls a "forgery" because, as stated, it does not exist in archival records.

This case, as emphasized in the complaint, represents a long-standing symbol of legal irresponsibility and institutional corruption in the City of Mostar and requires the immediate prosecution of those responsible.

The decision to file a criminal complaint for the illegal construction of HNK was made unanimously by all present at the Mostarski krug session.

Mostarski krug announces that this is the first of three criminal complaints the organization will file in the coming period.
