Mostar Residents Demand Regular Bus Lines to Kravice Waterfalls, Rujište Picnic Area, and Bunica Beach

Herzegovina's tourism potential remains untapped partly due to very poor transport connectivity, warns Our Party Mostar, reports the Patria news agency Patria.

Our Party notes that numerous tourists who come independently, outside of travel agencies and organized tours, and their numbers are growing, are trapped in the chaos of public transport between Mostar and surrounding tourist destinations.

Mostar's public transport companies reduce the number of bus lines during the summer period, which is the peak of the tourist season. Thus, some of the most attractive tourist destinations in Herzegovina, such as the Kravice Waterfalls, are not connected at all by public transport to Mostar, a city that is a regional center.

The same fate is shared by the mountain paradise, better known to Mostar residents as the Rujište picnic area.

The once famous destination for campers, a sports and recreation center, and the Bunica beach, are connected to Mostar by only two bus lines during the day, one departing from the city center early in the morning at 6:30 AM, and the other in the afternoon at 3:30 PM, times that are absolutely impractical for average picnickers and swimmers.

Our Party warns that due to all of this, as well as the lack of cultural and artistic content, many tourists, after just a few days of enduring Mostar's scorching heat, decide to shorten their stay in the city and spend the rest of their vacation at other destinations.

- During the tourist season, contrary to the previous practice of public transport companies, the number of lines connecting the region's center with all major tourist destinations should be increased – warns Our Party. They add that tourism boards, municipalities, and relevant public institutions should prepare the tourist season with much more attention and consideration, both towards tourists and towards citizens, reports NAP.
