Mostar marked Statehood Day of BiH

(Patria) - Mostar also marked November 25, Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, today.

On this occasion, delegations from the City Council, the Assembly and Government of HNC, JOB-Mostar, various veterans' associations, the Alliance of Anti-fascists and Fighters of the National Liberation War (SABNOR), and many citizens laid flowers at the Partisan Memorial Cemetery in Mostar, Liska harem, and Mostar Šehitluci to pay tribute to the fallen anti-fascist fighters of Mostar from historical periods when our country was exposed to aggression and fascism, but was successfully defended and won its freedom and permanence.

By remembering and paying tribute to the anti-fascists of Mostar from different historical periods, those who decisively defended Bosnia and Herzegovina from fascism and aggression in its history, we nurture a culture of remembrance and confirm the values of freedom and anti-fascist Mostar, which, regardless of everything, is its permanent character and recognizability, it was said on that occasion.

Among the delegation that paid tribute to the victims was the Member of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Šerif Špago, who said that he came to "pay tribute to the people who fought against fascism and won, and enabled BiH to be an equal republic among all republics".

- In the early '90s of the last century, there were attempts to divide the country. The fighters of the Army of RBiH and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of RBiH succeeded in defending BiH and confirming its borders, which were confirmed in ZAVNOBiH - Špago emphasized.

He then referred to the policy of the smaller Bosnian-Herzegovinian entity.

- Unfortunately, although they swear by anti-fascism, especially parties from the smaller BiH entity, they do not recognize this day as the Statehood Day of BiH, and probably with the intention that the marking of this date strengthens the state itself.

We know that the goal of these policies is the renewed dismantling of the state in order to achieve war goals under these conditions.

Considering all that is happening, they will not succeed. Today, we should send a message that BiH continues to live as an independent state whose goal is integration into the EU and NATO - Špago concluded.
