Bridge at Otoka to get a new look

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo has started the renovation of the pedestrian bridge over the Miljacka River at the Otoka Meander location. The works are part of the first phase of the arrangement project of the promenade on the right bank of the Miljacka, which will be carried out in the coming period from Otoka to Hrasno.

The bridge was built in 2003 and has not been renovated since, and tens of pedestrians use it daily. Due to the high frequency, the concrete parts of the bridge have been damaged, as well as the anti-corrosion protection of the main steel supports of the bridge and the railing.

The project envisages renovation, which includes works on the repair of the concrete parts of the bridge, then the protection of the steel elements of the bridge from corrosion, the repair of the access ramps and stairs, and the painting of the railing.

In addition to the bridge getting a completely new and more beautiful look, this project will also improve the safety of pedestrians, especially children attending the "Mehmedalija Mak Dizdar" Elementary School.

The value of the works financed by the Municipality of Novi Grad is 57,000 KM, and the deadline for completion is 45 days.
