Most “Festina lente – Požuri polako” in full splendour for SFF

As part of the regular maintenance of the pedestrian bridge „Festina lente – Požuri polako“, workers from the company „Deling“ from Sarajevo are today completing the repair and renewal of the lighting on this pedestrian bridge, reports the Patria news agency.  

The Department for Spatial Planning and Communal Affairs of the Centar Sarajevo Municipality, which manages the bridge maintenance project, will engage a company to clean the aluminium panels installed on the bridge deck and arches, as well as the entire handrail with glass elements.

Employees of the public utility company „Rad“ also contributed to the beautification of this site by cleaning and washing the promenade along the Obala Maka Dizdara.

Given that the grand opening of the 21st Sarajevo Film Festival, the leading film event in the region, is scheduled for tonight, and during which a large number of foreign tourists are staying in our city, the Centar Municipality decided that by beautifying the bridge and its surroundings, it would help send the most beautiful image of the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the world.

As is publicly known, the construction of the bridge, which was officially opened in August 2012, was financed by the Centar Municipality, which allocated nearly two million KM for this purpose. Several French web portals included the pedestrian bridge „Festina lente“ on the list of the 50 most beautiful bridges in the world.

Two other bridges from Bosnia and Herzegovina were also on this list: the Old Bridge in Mostar and the Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge in Višegrad, the Centar Municipality announced.
