Wet and Slippery Road: Heavy Snow Falling in Bosnia, Rain in Herzegovina

(Patria) - Heavy snow is falling across most of Bosnia, significantly hindering traffic. In Herzegovina, rain is falling and roads are wet and slippery.

Fog and low clouds are reducing visibility in valleys and along river courses. Drivers are advised to reduce speed and adjust their driving to current road conditions.

Due to temperature fluctuations, landslides and rockfalls onto the road are possible. BIHAMK notes that winter equipment is legally mandatory for all vehicles in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On the Jablanica-Blidinje main road, traffic is allowed for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes, while traffic for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes remains suspended.

Long queues of passenger vehicles are forming at the exit from Bosnia and Herzegovina at the border crossings of Izačić, Velika Kladuša, Bosanski Novi, Bosanska Dubica, Bosanska Kostajnica, Gradina, Bosanska Gradiška, Bosanski Brod, Orašje and Svilaj.

At other border crossings, passenger vehicle traffic is occasionally increasing, but for now it is flowing with delays of up to 30 minutes.

Due to passenger registration under the new system for exiting and entering European Union countries (EES, Entry/Exit System), longer delays are possible at border crossings.

The Brčko border crossing is open for passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes. As of 2.12.2025, the Karakaj border crossing is open for all vehicle categories.

At the Šepak border crossing, traffic is banned for all freight vehicles.
