Mogherini: Media are the mirror of society; if they are free, so are we

High Representative Federica Mogherini, on behalf of the European Union, on the occasion of the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, November 2nd, said that the media are the mirror of our society: if they are free and critical, then we are free and safe, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

- However, as we mark the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, reporters in many countries around the world face increasingly severe forms of intimidation and violence. Attacks on journalists are not just attacks on the victims, but also on freedom of expression and media freedom.

The EU expects state authorities to fully comply with their international obligations to effectively, promptly, and independently investigate such crimes and ensure that all perpetrators and instigators of such violence are brought to justice.
