Mogherini and Hahn: Agreement on Coordination Mechanism and IMF are welcome news

High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini and Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn issued a joint statement on the occasion of the agreement of Bosnia and Herzegovina's authorities on key measures on the country's path to the EU. It was announced by the EU Delegation, as reported by the Bosnian news agency Patria.

- The agreement reached this weekend in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the Coordination Mechanism and the decision to continue with the IMF programme are certainly welcome news. With such news, domestic leaders, at all levels, have further confirmed their commitment to the European path of the country, in line with the expectations of its citizens.

The Coordination Mechanism aims to improve coordination and implementation of policies in the country, including EU financial assistance, and to ensure better interaction with the European Union. The decision to continue with the IMF programme will provide key support for the implementation of the Reform Agenda, as a comprehensive set of socio-economic reforms and reforms in the areas of rule of law and public administration.

Meaningful implementation of the Reform Agenda and the Coordination Mechanism on EU-related issues, together with the adaptation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement recently initialled, are key to progress in the country's accession to the European Union.
