The Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina has sent a proposal to the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina to donate part of the surplus ammunition and explosive ordnance (MiMES) to the Republic of Iraq, in order to reduce the total quantities of surplus and contribute to the fight against ISIL and global terrorism, it was announced from the Ministry of Defence of BiH, reports the BiH news agency Patria.
At its 53rd session (October 7, 2014), the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted a conclusion tasking the Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina to initiate the process of considering the possibility of donating surplus MiMES to the Government of the Republic of Iraq, following a request from the US Embassy in BiH.
Acting on the aforementioned Conclusion of the BiH Presidency, the Mo BiH has sent a proposal for donation - transfer of surplus assets to the Government of the Republic of Iraq, in accordance with the US Embassy's request for priority donation of certain assets.
The proposed assets for donation are 7.62x54mm bullets (15,000,000 pieces) and KVP DShK 14.5mm bullets (400,000 pieces).
The Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina will consider any new requests and submit proposals to the BiH Presidency for further consideration and decision-making.
