Mo BiH on arms handover from barracks: We are fulfilling obligations from the BiH Court ruling and NATO standards

(Patria) - The BiH Ministry of Defence issued a statement regarding the letter from the Prime Minister of the Una-Sana Canton, Mustafa Ružnić, who asked institutions why large quantities of weapons were being removed from the "Adil Bešić" barracks in Bihać.

The Mo BiH rejects the claims from Ružnić's letter and clarifies what is actually happening.

"In accordance with the Agreement on the Final Disposal of All Rights and Obligations on Movable Property That Will Continue to Serve Defence Needs, dated March 27, 2008 (Doboj Agreement), and the contracts with the company 'SCOUT' LLC Zagreb, which the previous entity ministries of defence signed with SCOUT, as well as the Ruling of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2018, the Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina is obliged to fulfill the delivery of the contracted items to the aforementioned company.

In accordance with the above, a few days ago, two 30mm Praga anti-aircraft guns were handed over from the "Adil Bešić" barracks in Bihać to the SCOUT company. These are assets categorized as surplus, and as such, they are unusable and non-perspective for the Mo BiH. Also, this type of military equipment poses a great danger to the local community and beyond, and the Mo BiH is taking all available measures to resolve them, in order to increase the level of security for the citizens of BiH, and to achieve the prescribed NATO standards.

Therefore, this concerns the fulfillment of four contracts that the entity ministries of defence concluded with SCOUT, and the Ministry of Defence of BiH, after their abolition, as the legal successor, continuously carries out their implementation.

Given that the contracted items from the contracts are located in several warehouses at multiple military locations, this means that the delivery is not being carried out from only one military location and one entity, but from multiple military locations throughout the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina," the Mo BiH announced.
