Dairy farmers block two customs terminals with tractors, deadline for demands is seven days

Dairy farmers from Gradiška and Prijedor, with dozens of tractors, blocked the customs terminal in Gradiška as they announced yesterday, and Izačić in the north, but due to procedural difficulties they failed to block the terminals in Orašje, Gorica and Bijača, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

As stated by Mehmed Nikšić, president of the Association of Milk Producers of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with colleagues from the Republika Srpska, he was at the Gradiška terminal today, from where he headed towards Orašje.

- Regarding the terminals in Gorica and Bijača, we will most likely block them tomorrow. We have demands for which we have set a deadline of seven days, and we are requesting the introduction of levies on milk imports, blue diesel, and the closure of three customs terminals. If levies are introduced, then there is no need to close the three terminals - Nikšić told NAP.

As he said, they will have 24-hour shifts, and a certain number of tractors and people will remain at the terminals. He did not want to specify what more radical measures would be taken if the Bosnian authorities do not meet their demands.

We remind you that Bosnian dairy farmers have been waiting for years for the authorities to enable the export of milk to EU countries and to introduce levies on imported milk, so that they could at least in this way cope with competition. After yesterday's meeting of state and entity officials, to which representatives of the association were not invited, a decision was made to block the customs terminals.
