Young men in Prijedor celebrated camps at a music festival

(Patria) - During the period of marking the anniversaries of the closure of the Prijedor camps in this city, a group of young men wore and displayed T-shirts at a music festival glorifying the existence of three camps.

A young man with a shaved head, according to photographs from the music festival in Prijedor held at the beginning of August, was in the front row by the stage wearing and displaying a T-shirt with a Celtic cross and the inscription "Prijedor - F*ck a city without three camps".

The young man turned towards the photographer, who published these photographs on his social networks, while he raised a black T-shirt in the air during the Garden Fest, held between two commemorations of the anniversary of the closure of the Keraterm and Omarska camps.

Former camp inmate, activist and war crimes researcher in Prijedor, Edin Ramulić, condemns this move by the young men in Prijedor, but attributes it to a large amount of immaturity and ignorance due to the broader context that Prijedor historically has.

- This is multi-layered, this is offensive first of all for Serbs in Prijedor. Prijedor is indeed a city of camps when we look at the last war, there were three (Keraterm, Omarska and Trnopolje), but in the Second World War, 14,500 Serb camp inmates were detained in the Prijedor camp "Ciglana" from the entire Potkozarje region - Ramulić points out.

He explains that this year marked the 84th anniversary of the founding of that camp.

- It is offensive, that inscription shows how uninformed those right-wingers are, in addition to having the tendency to spread such hatred - Ramulić states.

In Prijedor, over the last ten days, there was a commemoration of the anniversaries of the closure of two Prijedor camps from the 1990s war, through which several thousand non-Serb population passed, which is why a large number of former camp inmates, both from Prijedor and abroad, were in this city.

- But, look, Prijedor is a city of camps, so it is insane, you can see the confusion, the immaturity of those people. It is benign, but it also speaks to the fact that this is a message intended for the performers, it was shown to him and if he did not react, everything is clear to you. That is something - whoever was on stage should have reacted - said Ramulić.

From the Prijedor Police Administration, for Detektor they responded that they had not received an official report of this incident, but that based on the information received, police officers will take measures to verify the circumstances and persons.

They added that they are working based on the action plan for the prevention of incidents and criminal acts committed out of hatred and prejudice and that they condemn "any behavior by individuals or groups that contributes to disturbing the public and endangering the safety of citizens and property".
