Young men sentenced in expedited proceedings for storming RTS building

BELGRADE, (Patria) - The Misdemeanor Court in Belgrade today sentenced a 19-year-old man to up to 30 days in prison for violating the Law on Public Order and Peace in connection with last night's storming of the RTS building, Serbian media report, which was also confirmed by the organizers of the One in Five Million protest.

The President of the Misdemeanor Court, Milan Marinović, told Tanjug that the young man was sentenced in an expedited proceeding for the misdemeanor of "brazen and reckless behavior committed in a group".

He will be immediately sent to prison to serve his sentence, as an appeal against this decision does not postpone its execution, but he certainly has the right to appeal, Marinović added.

He noted that four more people were brought before the Misdemeanor Court and that the court should make decisions on their cases by the end of the day.

Protesters gathered in front of the Presidency of Serbia, after a three-hour blockade, headed through the central Belgrade streets towards the police station in 29. Novembar Street, where the arrested individuals who entered the Radio Television of Serbia building last night are located.

The leader of the Dveri movement, Boško Obradović, said that they would seek the release of the arrested individuals and the arrest of themselves as organizers.
