Youth Determined: We Won't Vote on October 2nd, We Will Choose!

According to data from the Central Election Commission of BiH, youth turnout in previous elections is over 50%, and in the 2016 local elections, we won't vote but choose, stated young people gathered around the political initiative M1 Youth Rights, reports the Patria News Agency.

The M1 Youth Rights political initiative is a political project of the Institute for Youth Development KULT, which aims to place young people at the top of the priorities of government institutions and political parties in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

M1 Youth Rights is a political initiative, but not a political party in the sense of current laws in BiH governing political organization. M1 Youth Rights is not a registered party and is not participating in these elections. M1 Youth Rights exclusively aims to improve the alarmingly difficult situation of young people in the country through its activities.

Through their activities in the pre-election campaign, young people gathered around this initiative strive to politically educate young people and to timely awaken and develop critical thinking when selecting candidates in elections. The M1 initiative seeks to motivate young people to participate in changes, "not for a better tomorrow, but for a better today," as they have enormous voting potential. Young people make up 20% of the total electorate, and their turnout in elections is equal to the turnout of older population categories.

M1 Youth Rights previously created the Pre-Election Calendar, a simple tool that can help citizens with the right to vote in the 2016 Local Elections transition from being voters to electors.

The M1 Pre-Election Calendar is a tool for preventing pre-election manipulation. The Pre-Election Calendar begins with a voter's pledge to no longer vote but to choose and be discerning in the future, and then poses numerous questions that every voter should answer for themselves before going to the polls in the 2016 local elections.

It then leaves one page for each day until the Elections, to record the most significant political events of that day, good and bad political moves, price increases, communal problems, corruption scandals, results of the work of deputies and ministers, "read" pre-election rhetoric, etc. The last page of the calendar is reserved for October 2nd, election day, and carries its own message, it was announced from KULT.
