Youth and online threats on social media

(Patria) - The project "Strengthening civil society in Bosnia and Herzegovina to recognize and monitor online threats on social media" - #PratiOnlinePrepoznajOdmah, implemented by NGO Ja bih u EU and the Center for Security Studies of BiH for Hedayah, and funded by the European Union, officially begins today with a gathering of young people from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina, their mentors, coordinators, and social media monitors.

The project activities will focus on identifying trends of hate speech and radicalization leading to violent extremism, as well as educating young people to learn to recognize the forms in which such communication appears on social media. For this purpose, a web platform will be created for exchanging information and offering content that brings this issue closer to young people, civil society, the media, and institutions. The ongoing development of a study on the impact of these trends on youth, especially on vulnerable categories of this population segment, will also be presented at the event.

This project aims to strengthen resilience to radicalization leading to extremism by enhancing the competencies of civil society in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially young CSOs, for monitoring and recognizing online threats.
