Young physicists from BiH win silver and five bronze medals at international competition in Romania

At the international physics competition Romanian Master of Physics, held from February 24 to 29 in Bucharest, students from Bosnia and Herzegovina won one silver, five bronze medals and one commendation, reports the Patria news agency.

A total of 15 teams from Brazil, Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the competition, with 72 competitors in total. Our country was represented by two teams consisting of students Bahrudin Trbalić (International High School, Tuzla), Nermedin Džeković (International High School, Sarajevo), Haris Popovac (International High School, Sarajevo), Edvin Đapo (Third Gymnasium, Sarajevo), Dženan Devedžić (Gymnasium "Dr. Mustafa Kamarić", Gračanica), Ajla Karišik (International High School, Sarajevo) and Tarik Čorbo (International High School, Sarajevo).

Bahrudin Trbalić won a silver medal, while Nermedin Džeković, Haris Popovac, Edvin Đapo, Dženan Devedžić and Ajla Karišik won bronze medals. Student Tarik Čorbo received a commendation. The team leaders were Nudžeim Selimović, Selver Pepić and Senad Isaković.

The students from Bosnia and Herzegovina achieved an outstanding success, given that our representatives were mostly third-year students for whom this was their first international competition.

Before leaving for the competition, our teams prepared by working on experimental and theoretical tasks at the Department of Physics of the Faculty of Science in Sarajevo.

This was the second participation of teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina in this traditional international physics competition. (acz)
