Musical Flashdance also in Sarajevo: Looking for BH Alex Owens

After the enormous success of the all-generation musical Annie, whose encore is planned for May 3 at the National Theatre Sarajevo, the Institute for Music, Theatre and Multimedia (iMTM) has begun preparations for its fifth musical, whose premiere is planned for the end of the year, announced from this Institute, Patria reports. 

It is a theatrical adaptation of the popular 1983 film, the dance hit “Flashdance”. On this occasion, iMTM announces auditions for the main female role in the musical.

- We are looking for our BH Alex Owens, a young girl, with exceptional dance abilities, who can also act and sing in addition to dancing. Actresses from Split, Zagreb and Osijek have already contacted us, and we are especially pleased that there is great interest in our productions from neighboring countries as well. This is a very demanding production, which, with lavish choreography, will remind us of the great musical hits of the eighties, such as the songs Maniac, What a feeling, I love rock n roll, Gloria and others - said the director of iMTM and music director Alma Ferović Fazlić.

She added that in the near future, iMTM plans to stage the musicals “We Will Rock You”, “Sound of Music”, “Chicago”, “Phantom of the Opera”, “Les Misérables” and “Mamma Mia”.

With the premiere of the musical “Flashdance”, iMTM will also mark the fifth anniversary of producing musical theatre performances, whose development in BiH, following world trends, began precisely with the founding of this institution in 2011. It is significant to mention that previous musicals produced by iMTM, “Grease”, “Footloose”, “Dirty Dancing” and “Annie”, were seen by around 7,000 viewers in Sarajevo and Zenica, and the productions regularly guest perform in Slavonski Brod, Croatia.
