Rostovo residents still unsure about high waste collection bills

NOVI TRAVNIK, (Patria) – Residents of Rostovo near Novi Travnik still do not have precise information on how much they will have to pay for waste collection from that area.

Around 200 households received high bills for garbage collection, although, according to the residents, there was no organized waste collection from that area at all.

Containers for organized waste collection were placed in Rostovo in November 2017, and the Public Utility Company Vilenica-Čistoća billed the residents for the period from 2014 to the present. The bills amount to almost 400 KM per household.

A meeting was held on Thursday with the director of Vilenica-Čistoća, Svjetlana Tokalić. The utility company proposed withdrawing the bills from 2014 to 2016 and having the residents of Rostovo pay the annual bill for 2017, which amounts to 96 KM.

“I will pay the bills from the day the service was provided to me. That is from November 2017, but not before,” Mirsad Sarajčić told the Patria agency.

“On the other hand, there was hardly any waste collection from Rostovo even after the containers were placed at the end of last year, because it was impossible to do so due to heavy snow. I don’t know what service we are supposed to pay for, when it wasn’t even delivered,” Sarajčić added.

The Public Utility Company Vilenica-Čistoća has not yet officially stated why they issued bills for services that were not delivered.

The President of the Consumer Club, Gordana Bulić, told Patria that no company can retroactively bill users, and that Vilenica-Čistoća must publicly clarify the situation and provide complete information to the residents of Rostovo.
