Residents outraged: Corridor Vc will destroy the most fertile land, and the appearance of the Buna River is also changing!

For a long time now, it has been well known that the construction project of Corridor Vc through the Mostar valley has caused great alarm and unrest among residents, both in the northern part of Mostar, Bijelo Polje, and in the south of the Mostar valley, Blagaj, Kosor, and Malo Polje, reports the Patria news agency.

Experts and prominent Mostar residents, including writer Ibrahim Kajan, have repeatedly warned about this.

The not-so-well-designed highway route plan will bring misfortune to many residents of this area, as Corridor Vc will pass through their natural resources, weekend houses, homes, or in their immediate vicinity.

Residents of the Mostar valley have secured an acceptable solution for Bijelo Polje, where the Corridor route has been moved outside the settlement, fertile land, and private properties, running over barren land and state-owned property. However, residents of the village of Malo Polje still dream that a solution will be found for them as well.

Through Malo Polje flows the Buna River on one side and the Bunica River on the other, a place also known for the city bathing area located precisely where the Buna and Bunica meet.

It is located 15 km from Mostar and has become a very attractive spot for weekend houses in recent years. Among the well-known weekend residents is former Velež player Dušan Bajević, who owns one of the most expensive properties.

In addition to its tourist potential, this place is also known for fruit and vegetable cultivation. The highway route would go directly over these weekend houses shown in the images published by the Patria agency and a large portion of the arable land, which would significantly destroy the landscape and reduce the value of weekend houses and land currently selling for up to 50,000 KM per dunam.

Of course, the Buna River will not remain untouched either, as the highway would go directly over the river, with support pillars built next to the river.

Residents of Malo Polje are outraged by all of the above and by the fact that no public hearing was held where their opinion was sought.
