Mysterious Twitter message trigger: Edward Snowden is alive after all

Edward Snowden wrote an encrypted 64-character message on Twitter, sparking concern that he had been captured or killed after a “dead man’s switch” message, reports the news agency Patria.

That message was set to be published if he did not access his computer for some time. A journalist from “The Intercept” who has recently been working intensively with this whistleblower says Snowden is “fine,” but did not reveal details, according to “Sputnik.”

The journalist’s response came after two mysterious Snowden “tweets.” The first “tweet” was the one that read “It’s time,” with a call to his former colleagues at the NSA to contact the journalist covering the entire story of his work for the US intelligence agency and the circumstances that led him to be involved in the biggest “leak” of documents in US history.

The second “tweet” was a mysterious 64-character message. Snowden had previously stated that he had sent encrypted documents to certain journalists and associates, in case something happened to him.

Concern for the life of this whistleblower followed the unexpected shutdown of several major torrent sites without warning, minutes after Snowden’s mysterious message was broadcast.

However, “The Intercept” journalist Glenn Greenwald confirmed that Edward Snowden is “fine.” This statement was confirmed by another journalist, Barton Gellman, who said that “anyone looking for proof of whether Edward Snowden and I are alive should take a deep breath” and added that “some messages are private,” alluding to the mysterious Twitter message, agencies report.
