Mirsad Kukić steps down as PDA president, TK Government continues to function

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - At the initiative of Mirsad Kukić, president of PDA, a meeting was held at the premises of SDP BiH to discuss the sanctions imposed by the US administration, among others, on him.

The meeting was attended by the presidents of SDP BiH, NS, NIP and NES with their associates. On that occasion, an undivided stance was expressed according to which all present political parties, including SBB with whom contact was established earlier, respect and honour the positions of the US government as a proven friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

Appreciating such stances of his colleagues, Mirsad Kukić emphasised that he does not wish to cause any political or any other damage to Bosnia and Herzegovina in any way, and that he will not be an obstacle to the smooth functioning of the TK Government, which is achieving very good results in its work.

It was agreed that he will step down from the position of party president immediately after the party bodies are constituted, on 24 January 2022, thus enabling the programmatic functioning of the coalition in Tuzla Canton.

The attending party presidents stated that they expect such an approach from all other high-ranking politicians in Bosnia and Herzegovina, from their or other political parties and institutions who come under sanctions. The participants of the meeting are clearly committed not to cooperate in the future with political parties if they are led by leaders who have been sanctioned by the US government or the member states of the European Union.

Finally, it was agreed that the parties present at the meeting today, together with some others that were not there, will accelerate work on drafting a programmatic platform for the upcoming general elections, with a clearly expressed commitment that the signatories of the programmatic platform will be the parties that will form the government after the elections in October 2022.
