A peaceful walk in protest of the decision of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council banning religious symbols in judicial institutions will be held in Zenica on Tuesday, February 2, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, reports the Patria news agency.
The organizers have reported this gathering to the MUP of ZDK and have received a permit for the assembly.
We remind you that the decision of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina to draw the attention of all judicial employees to the ban on wearing religious symbols has sparked numerous reactions and debates in BiH. The Islamic Community has requested a review of the Council's conclusion, assessing it as an attack on religious freedoms.
The HJPC cites laws, primarily the Law on Courts adopted in 2003, on which the disputed conclusion is based. It states that there is no place for religious, national, and political symbols in the courtroom and on the Court building. In response to the Islamic Community's request to clearly define what constitutes a religious symbol, the Council refers to the Convention on Human Rights and the UN Charter.
