Peaceful protest walk by pensioners in Tuzla, demanding improved status and pension increases

(Patria) - Pensioners in Tuzla, through today's protest walk, once again highlighted the difficult situation they are in.

They demand pension increases and have received support from other cities. They said enough is enough and that it is high time for their material status to change. As they state, they even buy medicines on credit.

- We gathered because of hardship. Pensioners are dissatisfied with their current status. Our demands are known - we are asking for 52 percent of the average salary according to European parameters.

We will also demand that the gentlemen in the parliaments align themselves with European parameters, instead of doing what they are doing. Practically, we have a mercenary government - said the president of the New Pensioners' Party in Tuzla, Vehid Jahić.

Pensioner Osman Halilčević says their pensions last only three days.

- What and until when? Something must be done. People are taking millions, they have stolen the country - emphasizes Halilčević.

Let us remind you, a pensioners' protest was also held in Tuzla in January. According to the organizers, they have not received any feedback from the authorities of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

However, the pensioners are determined and say that they will continue with protests until their demands are met and that they will not falter in their struggle.
