Miralem Pjanić calls on all good people to join the Parent's House project

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – Top athlete and BiH national football team player Miralem Pjanić has been chosen as the ambassador for the “Parent's House Tuzla” project, and was officially presented to the public today. The Parent's House in Sarajevo has been operational for three years, hosting 150 families whose children were being treated for the most severe illnesses. Fikret Kubat, president of the Association "Heart for Children suffering from Cancer," stated that the land for the construction of the Parent's House in Tuzla was obtained from UKC Tuzla, and construction is expected to begin this year. The house will have five apartments and will cost around 700,000 marks.

"I hope we will succeed in building this house so that our children from Tuzla and Brčko District have adequate accommodation and psycho-social support. I want Miralem to be our voice in BiH and around the world, and for our children to have full support to be happy and return to their childhood."

Miralem said that Tuzla is his hometown and that the Parent's House project is extremely important.

"The support of parents for children while they are in the Parent's House is the best they can have, so this is a big story. I hope we will manage to raise awareness among as many people as possible about this story, and for the institutions that can help to provide it. The children deserve it."

Pjanić emphasized that he is only a small part of this story, and that everyone has the opportunity to help.

Kubat pointed out that there is still no systematic solution for financing the Parent's House in Sarajevo.

"We continue to insist and appeal to the institutions to find something long-term for both Sarajevo and Tuzla. Tomorrow it will be the Parent's House in Bihać or some other project. We are doing great things for children, for parents, for the entire community, and we appeal for a regular grant to be found that will be sufficient for the regular costs of the Parent's House in Sarajevo and the Parent's House in Tuzla once it is built."

Pjanić also distributed signed footballs to the children, which was enough reason for the little heroes to smile.

Atifa Buldić Bešić is the mother of a girl who was treated in both Sarajevo and Tuzla and who stayed in the Parent's House during her treatment. The girl is now being treated in Tuzla, and she emphasized the immeasurable significance of the Parent's House for children and their parents during treatment. She especially thanked Miralem Pjanić for being the voice of both the children and the parents.

"I appeal to all good people to join this story to build the Parent's House in Tuzla."

The Parent's House in Tuzla will have 400 m2 of living space, 5 apartments for accommodation, a living room, a kitchen, and a playroom for children. The construction of the second Parent's House in the FBiH will cost approximately 720,000 KM.
