Ministers Lakić and Đokić meet with directors of three power utilities: Discussed stability of the power system

(Patria) - Federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Vedran Lakić met today in
Sarajevo with Minister of Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska Petar Đokić and the directors of three power utilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina – Elektroprivreda BiH, Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske and Elektroprivreda HZHB.

This meeting, the first in this format, brought together the highest representatives of entity institutions and energy companies, which was assessed as an important step forward in building inter-entity cooperation and strengthening coordination within the energy sector.

Minister Lakić emphasized the importance of such meetings for creating a sustainable energy
system in BiH.

„Preserving the stability of the power system in Bosnia and Herzegovina requires regular communication, coordinated action and joint initiatives. Our goal must be stable and affordable energy supply for citizens and the economy, while simultaneously adapting to European energy standards and market rules.“

The meeting participants agreed that the situation in the power sector is complex, and
that challenges such as changes in electricity prices, the introduction of European mechanisms like ETS and CBAM, and the need to maintain a stable and efficient supply system require a joint approach and full coordination.

The importance of the financial stability of all three power utility companies, which perform the function of public suppliers and must ensure security of supply and
enable the continuation of investments in the energy sector, was particularly emphasized. Discussions also covered the improvement of mutual cooperation and better exchange of information between institutions and companies. Among the
topics of discussion were potential joint projects, as well as the development of the prosumer concept.

The importance of the upcoming adoption of the Law on the Regulator, Transmission and
Electricity Market in BiH, which represents a key condition for establishing an electricity exchange and full integration with the European energy market, was also highlighted.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to form a joint team of representatives from the two entity ministries and three power utilities, which will continuously work on information exchange, monitoring joint activities and developing projects.
