Ministry of Health invites persons over 70 in KS to get the third dose

(Patria) - In accordance with the recommendations of the Crisis Staff, adopted at today's session of the Sarajevo Canton Government, the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton invites citizens of Sarajevo Canton over the age of 70 to receive the third – booster dose.

All those for whom more than six months have passed since receiving the second dose of mRNA vaccine - Moderna, Pfizer or vector vaccine - AstraZeneca can receive a booster dose of vaccines from these manufacturers.

All those who have received two doses of inactivated vaccine - Sinopharm and Sinovac can receive a third dose of the same type of vaccine or a booster mRNA vaccine - Pfizer or Moderna, three to six months after receiving the second dose.

For immunocompromised individuals, according to the recommendations of the Expert Advisory Body for Immunization, the administration of a third dose of mRNA vaccine is recommended at least two months after receiving the second dose.

The administration of third doses will be available at vaccination points in health centers starting next week, in accordance with the quantity of vaccines available in Sarajevo Canton.

The relevant minister, Prof. Dr. Haris Vranić, emphasized that the Crisis Staff continuously monitors and analyzes the situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic, and adopts and proposes measures whose implementation is extremely important in order to prevent the spread of the virus and improve the overall health protection of citizens.

The Sarajevo Canton Government today ordered public institutions, the Health Center and the Public Health Institute of KS, to organize a vaccination team for users and employees of social institutions for the care of the elderly with the third dose of vaccines.

This conclusion was reached at the proposal of the Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of KS.

The Government's conclusion also ordered the Public Health Institute of KS to organize and deliver "third doses of vaccines" to all healthcare institutions for the vaccination of healthcare workers who received their second dose six months ago or more.
