Ministry of Education and Science of Sarajevo Canton on the controversial textbook: Protest to the publisher, act for revision to the Federal Ministry

(Patria) - Regarding the textbook "Society for 5th grade of elementary school", published by "Bosanska knjiga", which states that "Bosnia and Herzegovina is an independent, sovereign state community of its constituent peoples with a democratic state system", the Ministry of Education and Science of Sarajevo Canton informs the public that this textbook is on the list of approved textbooks of the Federal Ministry of Education and Science, and that it was approved in 2008.

"We will send a protest to the publisher of the mentioned textbook due to the stated omission, as well as an act to the Federal Ministry of Education and Science to revise the list of approved textbooks. The stated omission is one of a series that indicates institutional neglect and dereliction in the previous period, especially in the field of education. These are all consequences of decades of neglect and dereliction," stated the Ministry of Education and Science of KS.

As they add, the adoption of a new law on textbooks in Sarajevo Canton is one of the priorities in the work of the Ministry in order to ensure new textbooks - factually correct, methodologically appropriate, and technically modernized.
