Ministry demands expert examination: Suspicious origin of substance found in Gacko Thermal Power Plant

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina strongly rejects the allegations of the RS MUP, which were published by some media, that during the burning of confiscated narcotics in the Gacko Thermal Power Plant last week, it could have happened in any way that part of the drugs were not destroyed.

- The Commission for the Destruction of Narcotic Drugs of the Council of Ministers of BiH conducts this process in accordance with the highest standards and very strict procedures, where the entire process is documented and carried out under constant supervision of members of the State Investigation and Protection Agency, where SIPA transports and secures the confiscated narcotics from the storage location to the destruction site, and also secures the destruction site itself.

The process implies that the drugs, when taken from court and police premises, are previously examined, quantities measured and packed in special bags. Transport is carried out in SIPA vehicles, which are also sealed, transported to the destruction site itself, and with extensive and detailed photo documentation, which was also done in this case, burning is carried out in the presence of commission and police members.

Therefore, we exclude any possibility that the substance found in the premises of the Gacko thermal power plant could be drugs intended for destruction and we express doubt about the origin of that substance. Among other things, during transport, the vehicles and drugs were never near the premises where the suspicious substance was allegedly found.

Therefore, we call on the competent prosecutor's office in Trebinje to submit the found suspicious substance for expert examination to the Center for Forensic Examinations and Expertise of the Federal Police Administration, which provided support in the entire process, in order to determine whether it is the same substance and thereby remove any doubt about the origin of this substance.

This is necessary because the quantities of the found substance, which the RS MUP announced today, do not match any recorded quantity/packaging of drugs that were examined before destruction - stated the Ministry of Security of BiH.
