Ministry of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton allocated 50,000 KM for the reconstruction of the boiler room at FIS

(Patria) - Minister of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton Samir Avdić and Mayor of Centar Municipality Srđan Mandić signed an agreement today on co-financing the project "Sanitation, reconstruction and current maintenance of the Center for Sport and Recreation facility - FIS Sports Center".

Following the rebalancing of the Sarajevo Canton budget, the relevant ministry allocated 50,000 KM, and the money will be used to improve conditions, specifically for the reconstruction of the boiler room at FIS.

"Today's signing of the agreement is a continuation of the excellent cooperation we have with Centar Municipality. The synergy of the cantonal and municipal levels brings only improvement to the citizens of Sarajevo Canton," said Minister Avdić.

Mayor Mandić emphasized that only the name and memories remain of FIS. Speaking about the priorities regarding the renovation of this iconic place, he said that everything is in dire need of renovation and that we are not starting "from scratch", but even far below it.  

"The conditions there are currently very poor, but we are determined and persistent to return FIS to where it belongs, to be a center for sport and recreation where young people will gather. The conditions at FIS are on the verge of sustainability, both in winter and summer," said Mandić.

For the next year, he announced activities on the reconstruction of gymnastics halls and other facilities.

"With the cooperation and understanding of the Canton Government, especially Minister Avdić, whom I sincerely thank for the fruitful cooperation, we have laid very good foundations for the next year," said Mayor Mandić.

He recalled that important projects are being realized with the cooperation of this ministry, and cited the example of the Austrian House and the monument to Mirza Delibašić.
