SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A ministerial meeting to discuss migration challenges in the Western Balkans region is being held today in Sarajevo, with the participation of ministers and representatives of states along this route.
The Ministry of Security and the Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), are organizing the ministerial meeting “Addressing the Challenges of Mixed Migration in the Region” – Security and Humanitarian Aspects.
As announced by Security Minister Dragan Mektić, the international conference on migration will include representatives from Greece, North Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, BiH, Croatia, Slovenia and Austria, where they will attempt to identify a single point on the Balkan route to focus all efforts on halting migration.
The purpose of the meeting is to define future steps to be taken in jointly addressing the migration issue.
The first panel will discuss security aspects and the fight against illegal migration, while the second will focus on the humanitarian aspect of migration movements.
