Minister Šteta: Next Year with a New Trolleybus to Vogošća

(Patria) - Minister of Transport of Sarajevo Canton Adnan Šteta with associates held a meeting today with the heads of the Centar and Vogošća municipalities, Srđan Mandić and Edin Smajić, on the topic of the reconstruction of the trolleybus contact network and electric traction substations necessary for the renewal and establishment of trolleybus traffic to Vogošća.

The project includes the construction of a contact network on the section from Alipašina Street (from the former US Embassy building) to Vogošća, and the construction of the Hotonj and Vogošća electric traction substation facilities. After the public procurement procedure, IPSA Institute was selected as the designer.

As stated at the meeting, it is necessary to repair the existing usable poles for the contact network and build new ones where needed for the installation of the new contact network.

"This summer, a tender for the contractor will be announced, and the selection should be completed by the end of the year. The reconstruction works on the trolleybus network are expected to last about three months, meaning that the trolleybus will transport our citizens to Vogošća already in 2022. This coincides with the procurement of 25 new trolleybuses, for which we signed a contract in mid-January this year. It is very important for us to connect Vogošća with the central part of Sarajevo with high-quality and environmentally friendly public transport," said Minister Šteta.

Before the aggression against BiH, 16 trolleybuses operated daily on lines 105 and 106, connecting Vogošća with Trg Austrije and the Otoka neighborhood.

Until the final reconstruction of trolleybus traffic and its restoration to the pre-war level, the section from Alipašina Street to the Vogošća settlement, with a total length of nine kilometers, remains.

The establishment of this line will achieve greater reliability in the functioning of the passenger transport process from the Vogošća settlement to the central parts of Sarajevo, contribute to reducing air pollution, and increase the quality of passenger transport services in general.

The financing of the trolleybus network reconstruction project to Vogošća will be carried out with credit funds in the amount of 10 million KM.
