Minister Sevlid Hurtić met with representatives of the umbrella association of BiH associations in Vienna and visited the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sevlid Hurtić met with representatives of the umbrella association of BiH associations in Austria “Consilium Bosniacum” in Vienna this evening, as part of his visit to the Republic of Austria.

During the meeting, the representatives of the Association presented their work in Austria, where they are well integrated, and emphasized that they remain firmly connected to their homeland. They particularly highlighted their participation in the March of Peace, the celebration of Bosnia and Herzegovina's national holidays throughout Austria, and lobbying in the executive and legislative bodies of this country for support for BiH on its European path.

They stated that there is a lack of stronger cooperation with state institutions, offering the Association's capacities for anything that can be usefully done for Bosnia and Herzegovina. They announced the organization of the March of Peace in Vienna to mark the anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, and invited Minister Hurtić to participate in this memorial march.

Minister Hurtić emphasized that he has appointed a contact person within the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina who will be responsible for strengthening cooperation with the Association, and expects the Association to do the same. He stated that the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees remains available for all future cooperation with the umbrella association of BiH associations.

During the day, Minister Hurtić visited the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Vienna and met with the Chargé d'Affaires Šaban Forić. The meeting discussed the position of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian diaspora in Austria and their integration in this country. Also, they discussed the current accommodation of the Embassy, which should have greater capacity to be more accessible to BiH citizens. Opinions were also exchanged on the possibilities of improving cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Austria in the field of human rights. Minister Hurtić will meet tomorrow with Member of the Austrian Parliament Ewa Ernst-Džiedžić and the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Austria Alma Zadić.
