(Patria) - Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nenad Nešić visited Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina today, where he met with Police Chief Goran Pisić.
The security situation in this area and the measures implemented by the Brčko District Police in preventing organized crime and combating corruption were discussed.
Minister Nešić positively assessed the cooperation and contribution of the Brčko District Police of BiH to maintaining security in the area they cover, as well as the overall security and protection of all citizens of BiH.
Minister Nešić announced the continuation of support from the Ministry of Security of BiH to this police agency. He emphasized the importance of fulfilling obligations on the path to European integration and becoming part of a unified European security space.
One of the first next steps is signing an agreement with FRONTEX, about which Minister Nešić informed Police Chief Pisić.
This visit comes after the application deadline for the director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) has passed, and Pisić is among the applicants.
The current director, Darko Ćulum, also applied for the position, and a total of seven applications were received.
Although the Independent Board of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH is conducting the selection procedure and compiling a ranking list, the final proposal for appointment to the Council of Ministers of BiH is submitted by the Minister of Security of BiH.
Although it is speculated that Ćulum is counting on another term, everything will become clearer once the procedure is completed and Nešić submits the proposal for the appointment of the director of this important police agency.
