Minister Konaković sends protest note to Serbia over state officials' participation in marking the unconstitutional January 9th

(Patria) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH sent a protest note to the Republic of Serbia due to the participation of top state officials led by Prime Minister Miloš Vučević and the President of the National Assembly Ana Brnabić in marking January 9th, the unconstitutional day of Republika Srpska, several media outlets reported.

In the protest note signed by Minister Elmedin Konaković, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH reminded Serbia of the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina from November 26, 2015, and March 29, 2019, as well as the decision of the OHR from July 1, 2023, according to which the marking of January 9th is contrary to the provisions of the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"We consider the support for illegal activities aimed against the constitutional and legal order in BiH, by the highest authorities of the Republic of Serbia, to be dangerous and harmful to the relations between the two countries, as well as to the security of the region," the letter stated.

He stated that BiH does not threaten the constitutional and legal system through its foreign policy actions and expects Serbia to, in the same way, respect the Constitution and laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

A delegation of the Government of Serbia has been staying in Banja Luka for two days.
