Minister Helez met with Minister Černohová in Prague: Czech Republic will continue to support BiH's path to the EU

(Patria) - Minister of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zukan Helez is visiting Prague at the invitation of the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic, where the V4+CEDC+Western Balkans Defence Ministerial Meeting (CEDC ministerial meeting) is being held.

During his stay in Prague, Helez also held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic, Jana Černohová, on Friday, December 8, 2023.

During the meetings, they discussed topics of mutual interest, Euro-Atlantic integration, bilateral and international cooperation between the two countries, security, and defence cooperation, and other topics.

"Defence cooperation between our two countries is very good, and the Czech Republic, as a NATO member, is a respectable partner on BiH's path to the EU and NATO," said Minister Helez.

He emphasized that preserving the future of Europe as we know it is a major challenge, but also that the efforts of the international community aimed at a swift and adequate response to current challenges are of utmost importance.

"On this occasion, I express my firm conviction and the need for even stronger cooperation and trust-building on the path to preserving peace and stability, both in the region and in the world," emphasized Minister Helez.

In the end, he also thanked her for the support her country provided to BiH at a meeting in Brussels held a few days ago.

"This is of great importance for Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially considering that since gaining candidate status for EU membership, important steps and commitments have been undertaken to fulfill the key 14 priorities," Helez stated.

The Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic emphasized during the meeting that her country is a great friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina and will continue to support its Euro-Atlantic path in the future. She also believes that military cooperation between the two countries should continue and be strengthened.
