Minister of the State of Qatar to Visit BiH

(Patria) - Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs of the State of Qatar Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem Al Ghanim will visit Bosnia and Herzegovina next week for a multi-day working visit.

Minister Al Ghanim, who will be in Bosnia and Herzegovina from September 11 to 15, will have a series of high-level meetings and visit several Bosnian cities, where he will learn about the implementation of projects in various fields financed by the Qatari government.

The high-ranking official will meet on Wednesday, September 13, during separate visits, with member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dr. Denis Bećirović, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Zvizdić, and Minister of Human Rights and Refugees Sevlid Hurtić.

A day earlier, on September 12, Al Ghanim will also talk with the Rais al-ulama of the Islamic Community in BiH Dr. Husein ef. Kavazović, after which he will visit the Gazi Husrev-beg Library, built with funds from the State of Qatar, the Faculty of Islamic Sciences in Sarajevo, the premises of the Women's Madrasa within the Gazi Husrev-beg Madrasa, and RTV "BIR".

Official Doha is currently implementing extremely valuable projects in Sarajevo, Zenica, Lukavac, Travnik, and Fojnica.

The State of Qatar and Bosnia and Herzegovina are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral cooperation this year. Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović assessed in July this year on this occasion that bilateral relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the State of Qatar are very good and friendly. Good bilateral cooperation has been present continuously for many years, and 2023 marks three decades since the establishment of diplomatic relations.

He added that there is much that can be highlighted as a result of the good relations and cooperation between our two friendly countries, as Qatar has provided continuous humanitarian, political, economic, and military support to Bosnia and Herzegovina both bilaterally and within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). He recalled the support during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic, as well as in previous years during catastrophic floods, when 45 tons of aid were delivered to citizens in the flooded areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Rais al-ulama Kavazović also previously stated that the State of Qatar is a friendly country that has always helped and stood by Bosnia and Herzegovina. Expressing words of gratitude, he then stated that Qatar is the pride of the Muslim world, and that it is a very organized country with goals and knows where it is going. He then conveyed that "with great love, our gaze is directed towards the State of Qatar."
