A minimum wage of 543 KM will continue to drive workers out of FBiH

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Federal Union of Independent Trade Unions considers the announced adoption of the FBiH Government's decision on a minimum wage of 543 KM unacceptable, emphasizing that this amount cannot stop the exodus of workers.

"How do employers intend to retain the necessary workforce, if we know that they are already struggling with a shortage of qualified labor?" the union stated.

Stating that this amount covers a quarter of the monthly living costs, the Union reminds that the Decision on Amending Protocol 6 of CEFTA, which removes work permits as an obstacle to the employment of workers from BiH in signatory countries, is coming into force these days.

The Union of Independent Trade Unions is convinced that the deputies in the Federal Parliament will respect their initiative, which they accepted at a meeting with trade union representatives, that the minimum wage in FBiH should be 1,000 KM, which, as stated, would show that they are working in the interest of citizens and workers.
