MUNICH: Bećirović addressed a gathering focused on European security

(Patria) - Member of the Presidency of BiH Denis Bećirović delivered an opening speech at a gathering focused on European and transatlantic security issues, ahead of the opening of the Munich Security Conference. The gathering brought together more than 200 officials from around the world, and is part of the Munich Security Conference program.

In addition to Bećirović, the opening part of the gathering was also addressed by the Chairman of the Munich Security Conference, Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger.

In his address, Bećirović pointed to the serious challenges facing contemporary Europe, emphasizing that credible deterrence, strengthening defense capabilities, political cohesion, and decisive opposition to hybrid threats are key prerequisites for the stability of the European continent.

Bećirović, among other things, warned that today we are witnessing renewed attempts to destabilize Bosnia and Herzegovina and attacks on the Dayton Peace Agreement that stopped the war. This is being done by the separatist regime in the Bosnian entity Republika Srpska, predominantly supported by Moscow.

"Europe's and the West's determination to oppose attacks on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina is our common test and a concrete contribution to credible deterrence in Europe," said Bećirović.

The member of the BiH Presidency emphasized the importance of completing the process of Bosnia and Herzegovina's entry into NATO and strengthening NATO's southeastern flank. He added that it is necessary to fight daily and uncompromisingly for democracy, the rule of law, and individual freedoms.
