Milivoj Bešlin: Why both the government and the opposition in RS support the Chetnik gathering

(Patria) - Historian Milivoj Bešlin from Novi Sad told the Patria agency that in Republika Srpska, an entity in BiH, there is no opposition in the sense of an ideological concept and that political parties outside Dodik's SNSD cherish the same values that Dodik himself cherishes.

"It is a totalitarian model that prevails there, and it is based precisely on the ideology promoted today in Višegrad," said Bešlin, commenting on the fact that not a single political party from Republika Srpska, including the opposition, condemned the parading of Chetniks in Višegrad today.

Members of the Ravna Gora Chetnik Movement in Višegrad marked the anniversary of the arrest of Chetnik general and war criminal from World War II, Dragoljub Draža Mihailović.

The Chetniks lined up in the center of Višegrad on Sunday morning, from where the song "There will be hell and the bloody Drina again, here come the Chetniks from the Serbian mountains" was heard. The US and British Embassies in BiH reacted by calling on institutions to "take the necessary steps, address these threats, and call to account."

Bešlin said that he did not expect any reaction from RS to the Chetnik parading, because, as he said, the politics in that part of the country itself promotes that the entity was created on January 9, 1992, when many crimes were committed, while rejecting to mark the day when the entity was recognized in 1995 in Dayton."
