Miličević: Dodik's behavior leads to an international arrest warrant

(Patria) - The current political and security situation in BiH, the work of domestic institutions in the circumstances of the existing crisis, the formation of a new majority at the state level.

These are some of the topics discussed with Televizija Sarajevo tonight by the president of SDS, Milan Miličević.

Asked how he interprets the fact that the president of RS, Milorad Dodik, crossed the BiH border despite an arrest warrant issued for him, Miličević reminded that the head of NSRs, Nenad Stevandić, did the same recently.

- You know, many ordinary people who engage in illegal activities, various types of smuggling, human trafficking, cross the border, so why couldn't someone who represents the institution of the president of RS do it.

He is quite a powerful man who controls many things, and I don't think that's a problem. It is a violation of the law, I don't think it's difficult for him to carry out.

It might be difficult for me or someone else, but certainly not for him, with the caveat that such behavior can lead to an international arrest warrant - Miličević believes.

Since the first-instance verdict against Milorad Dodik on February 26, we have witnessed an attack on the constitutional and legal order of BiH. The question was whether there is a danger that the current political crisis could escalate into something more dangerous and serious?

- Of course there is, and all people, especially residents in BiH, are in fear and uncertainty about what might happen. It is an objective and real fear, not irrational. There can be several scenarios, it is up to those who are supposed to implement the decisions of the BiH Court and all other institutions.

If we think we can rely on Milorad Dodik's rationality, which should be the solution to the situation, and that he will act rationally, I am no longer sure if an appeal has been filed against the first-instance verdict, and whether he recognizes the court, which he does not recognize... An absurd situation, and we are all hostages to this story - Miličević points out.

He also touched upon the negotiations between the representatives of HDZ BiH and the opposition from RS on forming a new majority at the state level.

- It is realistic and feasible, but whether it will be implemented to the end, we will see - it depends on many factors. The main and most important is that we agree.

The number one strategic goal is BiH's European path, we have reached that level and we are ready as the opposition from RS to move towards it - states Miličević.

When asked when the meeting of the Trojka, HDZ, and the opposition from RS will be held, he said that the meeting is being prepared and that the date has not yet been definitively set.

- All topics that were on the table with the representatives of HDZ will be discussed. Whether an agreement will be reached or not, I don't know.

I wouldn't be a predictor, like some who were at that meeting and already announced their predictions after the meeting. I will be a cautious optimist, I believe that the meeting will be held by the end of the month - adds Miličević.

One of the questions was also how to resolve the functioning of the House of Peoples of BiH, given that SNSD can completely jeopardize its functionality and the adoption of laws by not appearing at sessions and breaking the quorum.

- That can last up to a certain point, but that point could be the resolution of Milorad Dodik, the president of RS, as a person with an arrest warrant, it could be some other form, an amendment to the rules of procedure. The blockade cannot be permanent and eternal - concluded Miličević.
