Indictment against Milan Trišić for crimes against Bosniaks in the wider Bratunac area confirmed

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed the indictment against Milan Trišić, accused of the criminal offense of crimes against humanity, on January 13, 2020.

The indictment states, among other things, that the accused Milan Trišić, in the period from April to October 1992, in the area of the municipality of Bratunac, during the armed conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina and as part of a widespread and systematic attack by the army and police of the Serbian Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and later Republika Srpska, directed against the civilian Bosniak population of the municipality of Bratunac, knowing about such an attack and that his actions were part of that attack with a discriminatory intent, committed persecution of the civilian population of Bosniak nationality on national, ethnic, and religious grounds in the area of the village of Hranča and the town of Bratunac, through killings, imprisonment, and other severe deprivation of physical liberty.

Trišić, as a member of the Territorial Defense (TO) Bratunac, and later the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) Bratunac Brigade VP 7042, along with other members of the TO, VRS, Public Security Station Bratunac (SJB Bratunac), and members of paramilitary units, is also accused by the indictment of taking people to camps contrary to the basic rules of International Law, enforced disappearances, torture, and other inhumane acts of a similar nature, committed with the intent to cause great suffering or serious physical or psychological injury or impairment of health, as well as large-scale destruction of private property, according to the BiH Court's statement.
