Mikulić: The ruling national oligarchy holds nothing sacred, not even children

Zoran Mikulić, a member of the Presidency of the Social Democratic Party of BiH, considers the politicization of nationalism on the children of Croatian returnees in Gornja Tramošnica by educators from that part of the BiH entity of Republika Srpska to be devastating, it was announced from the SDP BiH, reports the Patria News Agency. 

Namely, a teacher at the branch school in Gornja Tramošnica, Pelagićevo municipality, is demanding that children of Croatian returnees attend classes in the Serbian language and the Cyrillic script. Despite the fact that at a recent meeting of parents with the Minister of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska, it was agreed that from Monday, students of Croatian nationality, the four of them remaining in the branch school in Gornja Tramošnica, would attend classes in the Croatian language, as they have for the past 17 years, this has not been enabled.

As a member of the SDP BiH, the only party that protects and genuinely advocates for equal rights for every person throughout the territory of BiH, I hereby wish to appeal to the competent ministry of Republika Srpska, as well as to the director of the main school from Pelagićevo, Olga Lazić, to respect this fundamental human right and allow children to receive instruction in their mother tongue and script.

The returnee population is extremely sensitive to such irresponsible actions and provocations, for which the curriculum, sent by the Ministry of Science and Culture of Republika Srpska, does not provide for the Croatian language, nor the Croatian curriculum, as in all surrounding schools.

On this blatant example of the violation of human, national, and all other rights, the great protectors of national interests and self-proclaimed representatives of the Croatian people have once again remained silent, for who knows what time, leaving the Croatian returnees in the village of Gornja Tramošnica in Pelagićevo municipality in the lurch. For years, they have been persistently remaining silent about what the students are going through, who, like all children, should be starting a new school year. However, instead, we are witnessing the abuse of children for pre-election purposes.

The ruling national oligarchy holds nothing sacred, not even children. How else to describe something that has not been a problem for years, and suddenly it is, and only because of "election gains"? The greatness, dignity, and pride of every nation are best reflected in the degree of tolerance, correctness, and respect for the rights and protection of its smaller neighbors and fellow citizens.

Regardless of pre-election, post-election, or any temporary election points, those who will vote and those who will be outvoted must have the same human rights. Only that is a lasting value. Everything else is temporary,” Mikulić stated in his address.
