Mikić: Deadlines for forming the legislative authority start today

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has published the confirmed results of the General Elections, and the President of the CEC, Stjepan Mikić, confirmed at a press conference that all appeals have been rejected by the Court, thus confirming the legal work of the CEC, reports a reporter from the Patria news agency.

- It is with great pleasure that I point out that the results of the General Elections have been confirmed. From today, the deadlines for forming the legislative authority begin, as follows according to the Constitution. First, the cantonal assemblies should be formed within ten days from the day of the publication of the confirmed results. Then, 15 days from the day of publication, the formation of the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska follows, and 20 days from the publication, the House of Representatives of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 30 days from the publication of the results, the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina should be formed, and also within 15 days, the new Presidency should be constituted - said Mikić, noting that this year there were many unsubstantiated attacks on the CEC.

He emphasized that, as before, the weakest link in the electoral process are the polling boards, and that the Interdepartmental Working Group should consider the possibility that members are not representatives of political parties but rather civil servants, professors, teachers... 

A total of 518 officials have been elected, including three members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, three members of the Presidency of the Republika Srpska, 42 delegates in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 83 in the House of Representatives of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and 289 delegates in the cantonal assemblies.

Incidentally, from today, those elected can request to be relieved of their obtained mandates due to incompatibility with the position they hold.
