Mikić: The CEC made no mistake

At the session of the BiH CEC, during the discussion of information on the printing, packaging and distribution of ballots for voters abroad, Stjepan Mikić, president of the CEC, stated that the material was compiled based on information available to the CEC and is of an informative nature.

- One candidate submitted a certain number of ballots to SIPA. At this moment, due to this, 54 people are unable to vote by mail. We will propose to SIPA that a violation of the Election Law has been committed. We have checked everything within the CEC and no violation or procedural oversight has occurred. What happened next in BH Pošta or elsewhere is not our job, but that of the police agencies that will determine if there were any violations and perpetrators - Mikić said.

Branko Petrić, a member of the CEC, said that the Prosecutor's Office should be contacted, because SIPA stated that they cannot do anything without a prosecutor's order.

- There are many unclear things. I said a long time ago that strange things have appeared and that there is clearly someone trying to sabotage the elections. Because a series of problems are emerging - Petrić said.

On the other hand, Irena Hadžiabdić, a member of the CEC, said that it is necessary to clear the CEC's name.

- Given that we have a specific situation, and everyone is pointing fingers at the CEC, I want our services to provide data on how many reports we have received about manipulations that individuals or groups are complaining about, but that they called our info lines, not through the media - she said.

We remind you that cases have appeared in the media several times in which people from the diaspora claim to have received packages with several dozen ballots at their addresses, which has been documented with photos and video recordings. The Coalition "Prvi mart" reacted to this phenomenon, which has been working on voter registration in the diaspora in recent months.

As the coordinator of the Coalition "Prvi mart", Almir Salihovic, previously told Patria, they are asking the CEC to clarify this issue, because such cases call the election results into question.

He said that they have every right to suspect that these are intentional abuses and that someone is trying to nullify everything that the Coalition "Prvi mart" has done, and they have been working for months, assisting in the field to register and vote.

- We have information that the registration of voters from the diaspora, who will vote by mail, has doubled, which can and will significantly change the political structure in BiH, especially in the RS, because the returnees with the joint list "Domovina" will finally have their legitimate representatives who will take care of their rights. I fear that this does not suit someone - Salihović added.
