Mijatović: There is money for official limousines and helicopters, but not for civil protection equipment

(Patria) - For the tenth time in the last few years, I have to publicly say that I sympathize with all families affected by floods in BiH, said Vojin Mijatović, Vice-President of the SDP, who expressed his views on natural disasters.

"I can only offer to everyone whose houses are flooded that the doors of my house are open. What my family has, you have too, regardless of your name, how you pray to God, or whether you pray at all. However, what is a failure of our society is that it is the year 2021, and after every disaster of this type, we do nothing to permanently solve the problem of our river flows.

Everyone talks a lot about patriotism, but we throw everything into the rivers; there is money for official limousines and helicopters, but not for civil protection equipment; there is money for institutional buildings, but not for regulating river flows and wastewater... Unfortunately, even after these floods, nothing will be permanently resolved, but until then, at least let the institutions do their job, and let the 'politicians' stop posing for photos and acting like heroes and solve the citizens' problems where they should, in the assemblies where they are paid to do that, instead of talking about war.

Once again, the doors of my home are open to all people who have nowhere to go, and this flood only exposes all the misfortune of our reality, unfortunately," Mijatović stated.
